The SMDG, a global user group dedicated to standardizing Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) protocols in the maritime container industry, is pleased to announce that Hoopo, a leading provider of dry container tracking and fleet intelligence solutions, has officially joined its community of members.
As the only smart container technology provider participating in SMDG, Hoopo brings a unique and valuable perspective of a leading smart container technology provider to the organization’s mission of advancing digitalization, interoperability, and data standardization across global container logistics.

Hoopo is currently working with both regional and global shipping lines to fully equip fleets with its smart container technology. This includes the second-largest global rollout of smart container solutions, with ZIM Integrated Shipping Services, thus delivering real-time visibility, enhanced cargo security, and improved operational performance for carriers and their customers.
The announcement coincides with the SMDG 79th Plenary Meeting, taking place this week in Bangkok (March 31–April 4, 2025) and hosted by Evergreen Line. The meeting convenes major players in the global maritime industry, including CMA-CGM, Maersk, MSC, Hapag-Lloyd, COSCO, ONE, ZIM and technology leaders such as the DCSA, Navis, ABB, and Hoopo, to address topics such as EDI/API innovation, stowage planning, geofencing, safety, and critical cargo handling. As the industry accelerates its digital transformation, smart container standardization is a key theme throughout the event.
